Jackie’s love of caring for the elderly began in 1985 in Yorkshire, England, her home, while she was studying for her Social Studies degree. She found working with the elderly, in a Nursing Home environment, rewarding and loved the challenge. However, she was routinely disappointed by the quality of care being offered in care facilities. As happens. life took her in another direction and she found herself catapulted to the USA. Many years later, during a discussion with a close friend, she confessed her desire to do something more worthwhile and gratifying with life. “What does that look like?” the friend asked, and it took some soul searching to come up with the answer…. When she did, she realized where she belonged, caring for others and giving back to the country that has given her so much. 

 

Jackie said “This is where ‘Merry Poppins’ was born, a nickname that was given to me by my previous clients, “You come in with your magic purse and make everything ok again, just like Mary Poppins!” When Jackie purchased the business in 2020, it was the obvious choice to name the company she was opening in Naples, Florida. Jackie was, and continues, to strive for a company that provides care that goes above and beyond what my clients expect. To offer the elderly/infirm the same care that would be provided by their own family members. Keeping them in the home that they have built, in an environment that is comfortable and familiar. As Merry Poppins is known for, “Keeping them home is part of the plan.”

 

Merry Poppins has continued to grow in Naples and the surrounding area.  We are proud to say that we have built a company that excels, not only in providing individualized care, but also providing an environment in which Caregivers are appreciative, listened to and are rewarded for their efforts- a stark contrast to the national franchises.
